The Toast to Northside: Business Awards is an annual event celebrating outstanding Northside businesses and entrepreneurs. Businesses are nominated by the community, with awards given in the following categories:
Business Rock of the Northside: In recognition of the vital role they play in the community and their rock-solid support of those around them
Paper Maker of the Northside: In recognition of their business saavy and building wealth in North Minneapolis
Scissor Business of the Northside: In recognition of their innovation and ability to CUT through expectations and create change.
These awards are made possible by the newly restarted Northside Business Lunches. These monthly gatherings are opportunities for local businesses to connect and learn about business best practices. These lunches are a collaboration between NEON and WBC.
Events like this are such a great way to highlight the businesses that really hold a community together. The categories are clever too especially the “Scissor Business” one, since innovation deserves its spotlight just as much as stability and growth. It’s also nice to see the Northside Business Lunches coming back, giving owners a space to connect and share knowledge. I’ve seen similar community-building efforts in other groups I follow, kind of like the supportive vibes around Null's official site when people lift each other up.
