Maria Little-Arnold had a dream to pursue entrepreneurship after being inspired by her children. After becoming an "empty nester" when her children were older and started their own lives, Maria was motivated by her daughter after being in discussion about television and entertainment and how it portrayed women. Maria is passionate about changing her life and the lives of her children, future, family and community and decided to start Acronym Village to promote positive words and images.
"I wanted to show my daughter and her friends that they can be successful in their lives with positive images, quotes, strength, pride and the ability to say that they were queens and beautiful black princesses - knowing what they wanted from themselves and others. I wanted to be a positive role model for girls and women though clothing while helping to build the community".
Acronym Village is unique because of the messages portrayed for black women and girls. Our clothing is designed to empower and show positive action among girls and women. It is also designed to change what is seen in entertainment - so that self-esteem is built and shown what can be and is real life. Our ideal client is young black women and girls (newborn to age 16) and mothers (age 17-45).
In the future, we hope to grow our online presence while building brand recognition that brings economic sustainability to families as well as the community so that girls and women are living their best lives.
